A sneak peek within 24 hours: how wedding photographers use guest photos

Weeks often pass between the wedding and your full gallery. Selecting and editing take time, and the couple knows that. But in the days right after the wedding they would love to see something. You do not have to work overtime for that. With the guests' photos you deliver a sneak peek within 24 hours, while you work on your own selection at your own pace. Here is how.

How the sneak peek with guest photos works

  1. Put a QR code at the wedding. Print-ready cards, posters or table tents with a QR code; when you set up the album yourself, they carry your logo. Guests scan it with their normal camera app and upload in the browser, in full quality. No app to download, no account to create. More in how to set up a QR code for wedding photos.
  2. Set up the album yourself, or join as a co-host. With the Planner plan you create the album in your own account, with your logo and colour on the guest page, the QR cards and the live wall. After the wedding you hand the album over to the couple and keep co-host access. Does the couple already have a Pixworthy album? Then they invite you as a co-host under Settings, People & plan; that works on every plan. Co-hosts can view, download and moderate the album; billing and the gallery settings stay with the owner.
  3. Download the album the morning after. Download everything as one ZIP with the originals in full quality, or choose photos only. One short announcement after the ceremony or dinner ("scan the QR code on your table") noticeably increases uploads, so brief the MC beforehand.
  4. Pick the strongest guest photos. For example twenty to thirty images that tell the story of the day: the laugh during the speeches, the dance floor, the tear at the ceremony. Exactly the spontaneous moments you could not capture everywhere at once.
  5. Deliver the sneak peek within 24 hours. Send the selection as a first gallery. Your own edited photos follow later as usual. The couple has something to share straight away, and you have time for your own work.

Does this fit with my own photos?

Yes. Guest photos do not replace your work, they add to it. You capture the official images in your style. The guest photos catch the moments in between: from the tables, from the dance floor, through the eyes of the people who were there. In a sneak peek the two work well together.

What to agree with the couple

Three things, ideally before the wedding:

  • Who sets up the album? Either you, from your Planner account, handing it over to the couple afterwards; or the couple or their planner, who then invite you as a co-host. Agree who puts the cards out.
  • Who sees what? The album owner chooses what guests see in the gallery: shared (all photos), private (only their own photos) or off (upload only, no gallery). Hosts and co-hosts always see everything. An optional password locks both uploading and viewing.
  • What may you do with guest photos? The guest who took a photo keeps the rights to it. Agree the sneak peek with the couple; for your portfolio or social media, also ask the guest who took the photo, and credit them.

Checklist for photographers

  • QR code planned with the couple, well before the wedding.

  • Sneak peek agreed with the couple; portfolio use only with the guest's permission.
  • MC briefed about the announcement after the ceremony or dinner.
  • The morning after: album downloaded as a ZIP and your selection made.
  • Sneak peek sent within 24 hours.

Questions

Do guests need an app or an account?

No. Guests scan the QR code with their camera app and upload straight from the browser, in the album's language. They can switch between 7 languages themselves.

Are guest photos good enough?

They arrive in original quality, exactly as the guest took them. How sharp they are depends on the phone and the light, so pick the strongest. As the owner or a co-host you download the untouched originals; a guest who opens or saves another guest's photo gets a cleaned copy without location, phone model, capture time or original file name.

What if the Wi-Fi at the venue is poor?

With auto-upload on, uploads start as soon as guests pick their photos and carry on as soon as the connection is back.

Do I need my own plan?

Only if you want to set up the albums yourself. The Planner plan is for businesses with a Dutch KvK number or an EU VAT ID: unlimited weddings from one account, your branding on the guest page, the QR cards and the live wall, and you hand each album to the couple while keeping co-host access. For a one-off you do not need a plan: the couple's album and a co-host invite are enough. See the Planner page.
