Digital wedding guestbook: messages from your guests, no pen needed

Everyone knows the classic guestbook: a lovely book on a table by the entrance, with three filled pages at the end of the night. The rest is empty, or unreadable after dessert. A digital guestbook fixes that simply. Guests leave a message from their own phone, whenever they feel like it. No hunting for a pen, no queue at a table, no illegible handwriting.

How it works

Guests open the guest page with the QR code, just as they do for photos. There is no app to download and no account to create. They type their message and send it. That is all.

Written messages work on every plan, including Free. On Wedding, Plus and Planner, guests can also record a short voice message (up to 60 seconds) or a video message (up to 30 seconds).

Messages are private to you and your co-hosts. Only when you switch on Show messages on the live wall do they appear between the photos on the screen at the venue. See how in the live wall guide.

Moderating and keeping the messages

  • Approve first: on Wedding, Plus and Planner albums you can switch on approval, and new messages wait for you before they can appear on the live wall.
  • Hide, delete or block: on every plan you can hide or delete any message, or block a guest's browser.
  • PDF: download the complete guestbook as a PDF at any time, to keep or to print. A whole-album ZIP also includes the PDF and the voice and video messages.
  • Photobook: on Wedding, Plus and Planner albums, short messages can become quote pages between your photos.
  • Not needed? You can switch the guestbook off in the album settings.

When to ask guests for a message

A good moment is when emotions run high, for example after the ceremony, during dinner or around the speeches. One short announcement ("leave us a message too, with the QR code on your table") works wonders. Put it in the run sheet so nobody forgets.

Ideas for the QR card

Some couples put a question on the QR card to get guests started. The more concrete the question, the better the answers:

  • "What is your favourite memory of us?"
  • "What advice do you give us for the next fifty years?"
  • "Describe this day in three words."

Questions

Do guests need an account to leave a message?

No. Guests open the page with the QR code and type their message straight away, in the album's language. They can switch between 7 languages themselves.

Who can read the messages?

You and your co-hosts. Other guests only see them if you show them on the live wall, where they appear between the photos.

Can I remove or hold back messages?

Yes. On every plan you can hide or delete any message. On Wedding, Plus and Planner albums you can also switch on approval, so new messages wait for you before they appear on the live wall.

Can I keep the guestbook?

Yes. Download it as a PDF at any time. A whole-album ZIP includes the PDF and any voice and video messages.

Is the guestbook on the free plan too?

Yes, written messages are on every plan, including Free. Voice and video messages come with Wedding, Plus and Planner.
